Re-evaluating MA Printmaking — a continuation and expansion

Introduction

In 1998 Zaptabby passed his MA Printmaking with distinction at Bradford University. Zaptabby's MA was about re-evaluating past work based on music, introducing 'random memories' and print processes of combining traditional printmaking, such as silkscreen, etching and lino with digital print.

Although the MA work was a success of making a developmental transition from previous BA work, Zaptabby feels 'random memories' was too much on the surface. Many years have passed and Zaptabby has gained new and wider scope of media, techniques, processes and digital print. As well as printmaking processes and digital print, Zaptabby wants to include video, mix media and a deeper, fragmented layering of 'random memories' (non-linear narratives, combining facts with fiction, fusing cultures and languages). Furthermore, Zaptabby now has the freedom outside of the educational system to focus on the process of creating artwork without the constraint of always trying to justify, intellectualise, deconstruct and explain what Zaptabby was doing.
